Video Audition Info

​While all applicants must eventually audition in person, videos are accepted. Here's what you need to know:
  1. ​Register. You'll need to be in the system before you submit your video.​ Register here if you haven't already.
  2. Review the audition materials. Download the audition info packet for your section.
  3. Record and upload your video to YouTube. Be sure the video is not listed as "private".
  4. Email a link to your video. Write "GE 2019 Video Audition - Your Name" in the subject and include a link to your video in the body of the email. Send the email to [email protected]

Percussion

Note: ​All video auditions should be using a metronome, and marking time (for battery members). On the equipment of choice is preferred but a loud enough drum pad is fine if applicable.

Snare/Tenor:
Eights @ 140bpm
Eights #2 @ 140bpm
Paradiddle Builder @ 170bpm
Backbeat @ 160bpm
*OPTIONAL* - Solo/Musical Excerpt of your choice. Show case your talent.

Bass Drum:
BASSic Exercises Sheet. @ 150bpm

Cymbals:
No video auditions will be accepted for the cymbal section at this moment. MUST AUDITION IN PERSON. Email [email protected] if you have any questions or concerns.

Front Ensemble:
Send an email to [email protected] with the subject “GE Front Ensemble - Your Name” with your name, previous experience and instrument in which you plan to audition. You’ll receive a response with instructions for submitting a video audition for the instrument you’ve requested.

DISCLAIMER: SOME INSTRUMENTS MAY NOT HAVE A VIDEO AUDITION OPTION AND WILLL REQUIRE AN AUDITION IN PERSON.

Brass

Note: ​Concert Tubas/ Euphoniums may be used for etudes. Box drill must be performed with a marching instrument. 

1. Etude #1 (Kopprasch) Play at a tempo that best demonstrates your technical skills. 
2. Etude #2 (Lyrical - varies by instrument)
3. Box drill while playing 2 note lip slur. (An example of this will be posted on our facebook interest group before camp)

Guard

Note: Make sure the camera angle allows the viewer to see the performer’s entire body, including your feet.

What to include in your video audition:

1. Individual must submit a video of themselves doing 3 basic across the floor exercises.  (example- jazz run, sashay, or leaps of some kind)
2. Individual must submit a video of themselves tossing 5 singles, 5 45 tosses, and 5 doubles, all on flag.
3. Any individual wanting to spin a rifle and/or Sabre must submit a video of themselves tossing a double, triple, and quad.
4. Individual must submit a video of them performing a short flag routine from a previous show or that he/she has written. This needs to be at least 64 counts.
 
In your email, please include your name and a short bio of your prior guard experience. Please allow 7-14 days for the completion of the evaluation. We will strive to complete the evaluation sooner.
