The Golden Empire Drum & Bugle Corps from Bakersfield College was honored to perform at two events today in remembrance of those who have died while serving in our country's armed forces. Here's some local coverage...
Stealing inspiration from the classic Pink Panther films of the 60s, Golden Empire proudly presents their 2015 program, The Color of Crime. Sneaky integration of music from Henry Mancini, Anthony Newley, and Christophe Beck provides a soundtrack for the perfect heist.

Indoor season is wrapping up, and the Golden Empire Colorguard is getting back together to prepare for the summer. If you missed the first camp, this Sunday is your second chance to audition. Here's what you need to know.

Be sure to check out the FAQs and fill out and interest form. If you have any questions, contact us here! It's not too late to get involved with Golden Empire for 2015. If you've been marching indoor and aren't ready for the season to end, why not keep marching this summer with GE? There are still spots available in the colorguard and brass section. The percussion section is just about set, but we'd still love to hear from you if you're interested.

Auditions for the 2015 Golden Empire Drum & Bugle Corps will be held December 5th, 6th, & 7th at Bakersfield College. Registration begins at 5pm on Friday in the BC Gym, and the workshop/auditions will begin at 6pm.
The audition fee is just $40, and there are openings in all sections (Brass, Percussion, Guard). Qualifications: • Availability to attend rehearsals and performances (as noted below) • Prior experience in a drum & bugle corps or competitive marching band program • Knowledge of brass fundamentals and pedagogy • A desire to help HS/college students develop brass skills Additional consideration given to applicants with: • Prior experience serving on the brass staff of a drum & bugle corps • A music degree, or currently studying music (education or performance) • The ability to handle minor brass equipment maintenance/repair issues Terms of Employment: • Attend all rehearsal camps in Bakersfield, CA. • Tour regionally with the Golden Empire Drum and Bugle Corps from 6/19/15 – 7/12/15. • Abide by all rules and regulations set forth by Golden Empire Performing Arts and the Kern Community College District. • Complete all required pre-employment paperwork. Responsibilities/Expectations: • Responsible for individual and small group instruction in the area of brass performance. • Work with students to achieve the learning objectives set forth by the brass caption head. • Attend any required staff meetings. • Interact with the staff and students in a professional manner. Compensation: • $500.00 stipend • Travel, accommodations, and meals while “on tour” Application Procedure: Applicants should submit the following: a letter of application addressing the qualifications listed, a current résumé, two recent letters of recommendation, and contact information for three references to: Tim Heasley theasley@geperformingarts.org Review of applications to begin immediately and continue until the positions are filled.
